Big Dump, Little Dump

Updating only because this blog needs something new. Also, these images have been collecting dust in my files. Why am I so bad at blogging?

A drawing style test that turned into a fanart for The Binding of Isaac game. Sad, jaded babies are very sad... and jaded beyond belief.

Quick fashion inspiration sketches while at work. Painted over them digitally as color experiments. I kind of like the sloppy pen with digital coloring look. It's simple and gives a little "jazz".

I didn't feel the need to color these guys. "Dullahan" is such a pretty word, hehe.

Some tattoo ideas and a manikin with weird arms (it was attached backwards).

Freaky-deaky eyes and smiles accompanied with music lyrics and tv show quotes that wouldn't leave my head. I need to relearn how to draw teeth and gums. Now that I fully see it, it looks very unnatural.

I was in a very bad mood that day. Apparently, I draw lots of monsters and zombies when I'm stressed out... what am I saying—I draw them all the time!

Gwyneth Paltrow was sitting this way. I found an old tube of black gouache, so I figured I'd play around with them. I forgot how much I loved its soft, velvety texture.

Boring anatomy studies. I do fashion sketches on the side to see if I can apply what I've learned.

ADHD doodles and final concepts for a tattoo commission. The comedic dialogue between the girl and the monster is from Jeff Dunham.

Doodle-loo Apology

Pencils GaGalore!

Time to get off my lazy arse and upload some sketches while I can. Drawing keeps me from killing everybody. It also distracts me from reality.

I need to give the big sketchbook more attention.

The sketches on black paper were practices for a job interview. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job, but these drawings were still worth doing. It pushes me to think in colors and forms as opposed to lines and values. Hopefully, I can make the images look more painterly since they look very static right now. I guess it's the slight nervousness of trying something new.

Decided to upload a better image of this sketch since I'm pretty fond of it. See it in full on my website.

Obviously, that line's been stuck in my head.

The Binding of Issaac fanart because I've been hooked on that game! It's not exactly a family friendly game, but it's so adorably drawn you'll wanna share it with your family.

Small Sketches

Too lazy to put them through the scanner. I feel like a hipster with a small, traditional bound sketchbook as opposed to my usual 11"x14" spiral bound one. Two of these sketches were done on the plane ride to Japan.

Oh, why did I ever stop using colored pencils?

Warmup Coloring

I like practicing color digitally, the immediacy helps a lot when I don't have time mixing paint. With that said, here are a few boredom doodloumes.

Laura (SpicerArt) designed a "Spider Child" for me! I feel bad since I've only given her a teaser of my half of the art trade. Each of her characters have a very unique silhouette (like all good character designs), so it's always a joy to draw them.

Fashion doodles because I can never resist them. With the second drawing, I also caved into doing a "what I wore today" meme. I feel like digitally rendering the outfits makes them look cooler than they actually are, haha.

Flying to Japan on Saturday, so I won't be uploading anything for a while (more so than usual).

Commission Sketches & Misc.

Posting whatever's available in my files. I have so many commissions to do and sketches to color (including works for my art trade with Laura). Well, it's good to have too much to do than nothing at all. On to the sketches, before I go on a depressing ramble:

Brainstorming sketchers for my manager's cupcake business. We decided on two designs, which can be seen here and here on my website. If you're in CT and you'd like some deliciously creative cupcakes for your special occasion, contact Jessica Rydecki's "Piggy Princess Cupcakes" via piggyprincesscupcakes@gmail.com

Color study for a commission. View the final product here. My co-worker wanted her daughter painted in oils. It's been a while since I've done a traditional portrait, so this project was a nice challenge.

Doodling some tattoo ideas for another co-worker. She provided me with lots of references, which was awesome! Gave me a clear picture of what she did and didn't want. You can see the finished design here. It's small and simple, but was a lot of fun.

Sketch for a commission I'm currently working on. My friend, Alicia  wanted my "Hair Monster" with beehive hair. It's great when I can work on my commission and get paid for it!

I saw a bunch of Tari Nakagawa's "Necro Nymph" dollies and I couldn't resist. The lyrics are from "Take Me Over" by Cut Copy (I couldn't stop smiling all throughout the music video).

Mindless doodling with a fun quote from Family Guy, "Be Careful What You Fish For". Seeing Ricky Gervais guest star as a dolphin was an episode worth sitting through.

Boring anatomy sketches that I should do more often. What happened to the me who used to be obsessed with these practices?

Demon girls, nothing special. The red one has lyrics from "Radioactive" by Marina and The Diamonds (again, fun music video because the lead singer is too adorably glamourous).

Hopefully, more to come in the near future.
